  • Organize Your House One Room at a Time

    Posted on June 20 2017

Organize Your Home’s Entranceway When you are a busy parent, organizing your home one room at a time is a great idea. If you feel overwhelmed about organizing, then begin with the living room’s entranceway. In most homes, the living room is where everyone enters a home, and children often drop their backpacks, coats and footwear at the doorway. This entranceway is typically seen from the living room, and it makes the space look chaotic. If your home’s entranceway has a closet, then make it more usable for your children by customizing it with shelving and garment rods that are at a lower level. Alternatively, you can add a freestanding cupboard that makes it easier to hang coats and store backpacks.

If you are experiencing stress from a cluttered home, then it is time to get organized. A complete home organization can save you several hours a day because you don’t have to look for something that is under a pile of laundry. The best places to begin organizing are the garage or basement. A garage is designed for holding vehicles, lawn care equipment and gardening tools rather than racks filled with clothing or boxes filled with junk. In a basement, you need fast access to the laundry area or climate-control equipment. Begin to purge the excess items from a basement or garage, and use storage systems such as metal shelving or pegboard systems.

  • Easy Tips for De-cluttering Your Home

    Posted on July 17 2016

Clutter in the home can cause stress and anxiety, but it’s often difficult to get the motivation and time to de-clutter. Having less stuff in your home can lead to a more peaceful place to rest and live. When you begin the process of cleaning out your home, it’e best to start small. Don’t try any large projects unless you have plenty of time to get them done. Also, be sure that you have a place to put unwanted items and have a plan to get them out of the house as soon as possible so they don’t find their way back into your living space. Most important of all, understand that to de-clutter an entire home is a process and it doesn’t have to be done quickly. The following de-cluttering tips can help you on the path of creating a peaceful and beautiful living space.

    Start Small:
Begin your de-clutter project with a small area, but one that will make an impact. If you have an entryway that tends to collect random things, begin with it. Perhaps you have a junk drawer that never allows you to find what you need or it may be that your closet needs work? Allow yourself 10-15 minutes to work on the area. Begin with things that are obviously trash and keep a trash bag at hand to throw things away immediately. A box for items to donate should also be close by. Once your time is up, you can keep going if you feel like it or take a break if you’ve been overwhelmed. Even 10-15 minutes a day will allow for significant cleaning time for the week.

  • Stay Organized During Your Move

    Posted on June 25 2016

Keeping organized during a move can feel quite challenging. But with a little planning ahead of time, it doesn’t have to be a huge headache. Here are some tips that will help you keep track of everything and keep your sanity during the move:

    1) Use color coding. You can color code boxes with different colored tape or stickers. Assign each a room a color and be consistent about using it. This will make it vastly easier to keep track of what goes in each room. Color-coded boxes can be identified at a glance, from a distance. Make sure you make a list from the start that assigns the colors to different rooms. This will help prevent you from using the same color for two rooms without realizing it. Then, keep track of the list so you can reference it when unpacking.

  • Seven Steps for Organizing Drawers

    Posted on June 05 2016

Organizing your closet drawers makes it easier to find the items needed to get dressed in the morning for work or in the evening for special events. Walk-in closets often have organizational systems that include clothing rods at different levels, shelves in a variety of sizes and drawers that are similar to a chest of drawers. Instead of shoving garments into a closet’s drawers in a willy-nilly fashion, store things properly to avoid damaging the items along with making it easier to find things. You can also organize the drawers that are in pieces of furniture throughout a home.

    One: Dump out the Drawers

Dump everything out of all of the drawers onto a tabletop, bed or floor in order to choose what you need to keep or throw away. Have a trash bag ready to toss out socks with holes, and you may want to make a pile of items that require repair. If you no longer need a gently-worn garment, then place it in a container to donate it to a charity.
